And now for something very different ... My Exotic Travel Consultants F & MG had drawn my attention to some special workings of Blackpool's Heritage trams on Good Friday, so I went along to see. Most of Blackpool's trams nowadays are the modern Flexity variety, but there is a rich collection of older vehicles and five of them would be out today. Balloon car No 715 was performing the daytime promenade service with Open Boat No 227, then Brush Railcoach No 631 and Twin Cars Nos 675/685 were turned out for an evening service right through to Fleetwood, with a short return working back to Thornton Gate before the final through run back to the Tower. Balloon car No 717 was also seen on a private charter. An excellent outing in perfect spring weather, with interim refreshment provided by the heirs and successors of Mr H Ramsden of Yorkshire. Great!
