The notoriously secretive West Coast Railway Company threw open the gates of the old Steamtown Carnforth to the public today, and there was no doubt of the cause of the triumphant celebration. The magnifiently restored Stanier rebuild of a Fowler Royal Scot 4-6-0 was unveiled as No 46115 Scots Guardsman. Resplendent in the morning sunshine in BR Brunswick green with late BR crest, she promises great things to come. We could not find out what, though! There were five other locos in steam and a large array of other traction. Another real highlight of 2008.
