LNER B1 4-6-0 No 61264 was a notable visitor to this event. Bright weather on the Saturday afternoon was overshadowed by news of a bad shunt at Rawtenstall by duke of Gloucester in the morning, resulting in 14 people slightly injured. The service was consequently badly disrupted. Sunday was a dry but very dull day, and the duke and its rake of coaches were still out of action. So, a groundhog day, until at dusk there was a welcome surprise - a filthy Black Five fresh from its triumphs in Scotland and over Shap, No 45407 in disguise as No 44996 with large Scottish numerals and a chalked number on the smokebox.
