Peppercorn 4-6-2 No 60163 Tornado headed a Cathedrals Express today from London Euston to Chester. My first view of it came from the overbridge at the eastern end of the station, where the loco and its 13 Mark 1 coaches were stabled in the sidings. From the station itself a good view of the side and rear of the engine was obtained, the intermittent sunlight bringing the best from Tornado's new Brunswick green livery. The train then pulled out to the East junction and reversed into Platform 3. The sun was now on the wrong side of the loco as the train picked up its passengers and set off towards Crewe and Euston.

Guestbook for Tornado at Chester 10 September 2011

Last time I was at Chester it was possible to go around to the "sunny" side of the train. It was at the top end of a car park adjacent to the station. Great set of photos here though.
I managed a couple of shots at Nuneaton and then Atherstone on its northbound run.
Well done.
