The London Bus Preservation Trust held its 38th Spring Gathering at Dunsfold Aerodrome near Guildford, and I called in briefly on my way back up north. The event highlighted the 60th birthday of the RF class, London Transport's standard post-war single decker. These preserved buses, and their relatives from the RT and RM families, looked well in the bright sunshine. They reminded me of my childhood in Surrey, where my highest ambition was to become a bus conductor (because of all the money you got). Some fine buses from the south coast were reminders of day trips and holidays at the seaside.
