The Black Rileys were due to run from Crewe over the Central Wales line
to Newport, but the continuing overhaul of No 76079 meant that Stanier
Class 5 4-6-0 No 45407 was joined by classmate No 45231, which has been
based on the East Lancashire Railway these last few months. Grey weather and a crowded platform end made decent pictures difficult, but here are a few record shots
