A short break in Venice yielded an unexpected additional bonus. As our vaporetto came down the Grand Canal towards St Mark's Square, the unmistakable lines and colouring of Cunard's Queen Victoria appeared, moored on the edge of the lagoon between Venice and the Lido.

A vaporetto ride to the Lido and back was already planned for the afternoon, and this gave us a grand view of the ship as we
passed her berth each way. Sadly the weather was cloudy and drizzly, but this did not spoil the dramatic sights of Venice and her distinguished visitor.
