Queen Elizabeth 2 and Queen Mary 2 were in port at Southampton together last Saturday. QE2 was completing its 2005 World Cruise and presumably QM2's crossing was timed to allow world cruisers to go straight on to New York. This made for some spectacular sights, particularly as this time it was QM2 that was moored up the River Test at the Mayflower terminal. It looked splendid steaming down river just after 6 pm, preceded by the tug Deben making a magnificent water display. As QM2 neared her older sister, the exchange of whistles was deafening and the other ships in the docks all joined in. Soon the exchange was all over and QM2 steamed away to New York, followed very shortly by QE2 beginning a Mediterranean cruise.
