We sailed into New York on the morning of Friday 1 July 2011 after a seven day crossing from Southampton. Within a few hours of arrival, I persuaded my family to take a taxi ride to Battery Park and a free ride on the big yellow ferry across to Staten Island. At some point I shared with them that they could look forward to seeing the ship come down the Hudson River, pass the Statue of Liberty and across Upper Bay to the Verrazano Narrows bridge, on its five day 'getaway' to Halifax Nova Scotia and Boston Mass. My new 30x telephoto lens afforded some spectacular sights from our vantage point of St George, Staten Island.

Six days later, we reboarded Queen Mary 2 for our return crossing, eastbound to Southampton. It was exciting to see the same landmarks as six days ago, this time from aboard the ship itself

A fabulous set of photos Peter. Well done. I'm curious about your superzoom lens though. What is it?
I'm booked on Queen Mary 2 next June so I hope to get something similar....
