The National Railway Museum's 'Ride the Giants of Steam' programme this summer included some trips over the Settle and Carlisle line, including this southbound run by SR 'King Arthur' 4-6-0 No 30777 Sir Lamiel, seen on a glorious Autumn afternoon at Appleby. You would not think that fog, dark cloud, heavy rain and thunder had all been seen in Northern
England in the previous few hours!
