The late arrival at the East Lancs Winter Ball was Ivatt 2P 2-6-0 No 46443 from the Severn Valley, in substitution for BR Standard 2-6-4T No 80080 which has gone to the SVR for some attention before taking up residence for a while on the
ELR. Stanier Class 5 4-6-0 No 45337 was scratched the night before, leaving Riley's sister Black Five No 44871 and 2 BR Standard locos with Caprotti valve gear, Class 5 4-6-0 No 73129 and the unique 8P 4-6-2 No 71000 Duke of Gloucester to complete a roster or four locos. I managed to photograph all four during a brief Saturday morning visit, during which the light varied from dull to dismal.
As I left, the sun came out.
